Factory Gloss

The FACTORY GLOSS option is nothing more than a guitar polished to a high gloss in store condition.

In this option, you get an instrument with a nitro paint polished to a high gloss. The thickness of the paint is standard. We remind you that nitro is not an ideal technology. Just like in the factory Gibson guitar, in our case, cracks in the paint (Weather Checking) may occur. Around the glued logo or inlay, there may be points where nitro will soak deeper into the substrate. These are natural features of nitro and you have to reckon with them.

Played & Used

The Played & Used option reflects the visual condition of a used, but well-cared for guitar that is at least a dozen years old.

This is nothing more than the FACTORY GLOSS option (standard thickness nitro paint, polished to high gloss) enriched with amber tint with patina, micro scratches, subtle discoloration - and aged hardware. The amber tint is visible not only on the pearl Gibson logo and on the binding, but also breaks the original color of the guitar. This means that the white color will change to nicotine, the blue color will change to green, etc. This is in line with the natural aging process of nitro.

Aged

The AGED option represents an old and heavily used guitar.

After refinish, similarly to the PLAYED & USED option, we additionally sprinkle the entire surface with amber nitro, which is visible not only on the Gibson logo and binding, but also breaks the color of the guitar - e.g. from white to nicotine, from blue to green, etc. In addition, we will find here everything that accompanies a vintage guitar: patina, discoloration, abrasions, chips, bruises, scalds, micro-scratches, as well as cracks in the paint known as Weather Checkings. The Aged option is also the thinnest nitro paint we have in our offer.

Vintage Tint

Clear nitro is the final coat on a guitar. It has several tasks, including adding depth to the colors and protecting the instrument. However, over time, this colorless layer, exposed to various environmental conditions, changes color itself. Most often, it takes on an amber shade, which in turn affects the original color of the instrument. The white varnish becomes nicotine, and the blue breaks into green. The iridescent white Gibson logo made of mother-of-pearl becomes amber. The factory white binding in the LPC model becomes yellow. We give you exactly the same effect in the Played & Used and Aged options.

Patina

Nitro paint reacts with external factors (e.g. sweat or cigarette smoke). As a result, it is covered with a misty coating, called patina. Patina can appear on the entire guitar and resembles satin varnish. To add authenticity to our works, we patina the varnish in Played & Used and Aged versions.

Weather Checkings

Cracks in the lacquer are an inherent feature of vintage guitars. They come in many shapes, but on original Gibsons they are most often arranged in long lines across the guitar. In the modern world, several techniques are used to recreate such cracks. We do not use a scalpel or a quick heat-cold shock to obtain them. Our cracks occur naturally, so we have no control over their shape, intensity, or chipping and flaking of the lacquer.
